This is my new theory – you can tell a lot about what a man is looking for in a woman by the car he drives.
Examples:
- A friend’s late 30-something colleague has just bought himself a Porsche. He reckons it will make him more attractive ‘to the ladies’ but is already calculating what he’ll be able to sell it for when he needs to get a SUV to cart the kids around in.
- Another single male friend just bought a very nice, sporty, quite flashy car and was agonising over whether to get the silver or white colourway as he tried to work out ‘what he wanted the car to say about him’.
- And yet another single guy I know bought a very nice but not cheap sporty coupe, brand new. He’s been single for a while and has always had stunningly gorgeous girlfriends. They, and his new car, intimidate the hell out of me!
It does make me wonder what kinds of women would be attracted to these guys because of their expensive cars. Can you say ‘high maintenance gold digger’?! Which is probably not the kind of women these three are hoping to attract. (I should add that attracting women is not the sole reason they’ve bought these cars – pure enjoyment and the ‘because I can’ factor played large parts too!)
And this is not to say that my attached male friends drive clapped out old bangers. But in a funny way, the cars they drive kind of ‘match’ their wives/girlfriends.
Do you think my theory has some merit? And what about the other way around: what does a woman’s car say about the man she’s looking for? (Hmm, I think I need to upgrade!)

I got a “sports” car (Celica GT), I think it was more of a mid life crisis than anything, however it does get me more attention.
As for women actually wanting me for my car, unlikely, heck after all it seems all the women I’ve been on dates recently are “happy been single”, “Not ready for a relationship” or it is to painful to be with someone again and start crying. I wish they’d grow some balls and tell me they don’t see me as relationship material, I’d be like fine, lets go for a spin instead! lol.
Hey Mark – I’ve often thought it would be cool to have a road trip buddy!
So what sort of attention does your Celica get you? And is it from the kind of woman you’d like to attract? Testing my theory here…
It does get people looking as it is kinda pretty (although of course it’s no Aston Martin)

As for the type of woman, seems pretty much all types, I can’t really nail it down any more than that as when I identify a woman as a certain type “she” shape shifts into something else (usually evil and heartless
).
At the moment I seem to be doing worse than normal in trying to find someone, I think pretty much it’s game over.
Apparently though dogs may attract women more. If you get a cute dog women will adore it and come up and talk to any guy. This pearl of wisdom from my married mate who takes out their cute dog a lot. However when I pointed out that I’d like a woman wanting me and not trying to kidnap the dog he went, “hmm yeah I see your point!”.
I’m a cat person anyhow!

Just found your site! love it and I’m finding some similarities between us! I’ll be keeping up with you, and I have to agree about the car thing. And what does it say about men who don’t take care of their cars? Or don’t care what kind of car they drive! Yikes, you’re opening up a whole new world!!
I agree I take care of my car like it was a woman.
I take good care of my car, was it carefully, wax and polish it. Check the tire pressures and water bottle is full. Listen for any unusual noises and address them as soon as possible.
Then ride it ragged!
I once dated a guy who kept wanting to drive and pick me up before our date. That wouldn’t sound strange, except that I live in Manhattan and so did he and driving, well, more parking is such a hassle that it just isn’t done. Anyway, I finally succumbed to find him outside waiting for me in his Porsche. He had so very clearly wanted to show off his nice car. But all I could think as I sat in his tiny little car and stared at his tiny little hand on the tiny little gear shift was “Sorry about your penis.”
A Ford Bronco would have gotten him more play from me. But maybe that’s just me…

I like to judge a man by the bike he rides! I’m an ex bikie-chick (shouldn’t describe myself that way as it gets me into trouble) but I see a Ducati parked outside of somewhere and I drool. Course, don’t trust most men- even my late husband- to want to ride pillion but it’s fun to drool. After the bike, don’t really care what car he drives as long as it is clean.
